Connection Information to Alternate Chat Network
Because many Ruralgay.com regulars are webtv users, and webtv cannot connect to Yahoo Chat, Leatherwolf has set up an IRC chat channel on the Efnet IRC network. IRC chat can be accessed by PC and MAC users as well, using the Webchat option on www.efnet.org or connecting with an IRC chat client like Mirc (for the PC) or Ircle (for the Mac.) To find these chat clients, so a search for them on Google.
Direct Connection (through Webtv or an IRC chat client)
For webtv users, you can connect directly to Efnet through your Community
section on WebTv.From the WebTV Homepage go to Community
From the Community page frame go to Chat
From Chat frame go to "go to" (is a small frame on the left
hand side of screen just under WebTV logo----might be where some miss
the trail)
User should be at "Go to a chat room " page (These exact instructions
may be somewhat out of date. Please contact Webtv support if they dont
work for you.
The settings you'll need are:
The server is: irc.efnet.us port 6667 and the room is ruralgay
If you don't have a "room" option to fill in, once connected
type /join #ruralgay
Note that the above are also the settings that PC and Mac users coming in through IRC will need.
Webchat option:
In the address bar of your browser, type www.efnet.org
once on the efnet hompage click the webchat button in the upper right
hand corner
You will see 2 boxes one for nick name and one for server
Type your nickname
Do not change the server
Click login
it will take you to a beginners chat room
type /join #ruralgay
and you should be in your new home.
MIRC users version 6.12
click options
in the list on the left click servers
click add
in the description box give the new place a name you will remember EX:efnet
or ruralgay2
in the IRC SERVER box type irc.efnet.us
leave everything as it is
click add
if the new place you created is in the irc server box, then click connect
once on efnet, in the status window type /join #ruralgay
and home you will be.
